Overview for Music/Performance Classes: 

Music: Music is a source of joy! Students will explore a wide range of musical genres, spanning from classic to contemporary, and including local talents as well as global cultures. Through these pieces, students will gain an understanding of musical notation and theory, and, of course, learn to play instruments! They will engage with both rhythmic and melodic instruments, such as rhythm sticks and xylophones in the primary grades, and recorders and ukuleles in the intermediate grades.

Choir (Grades 1-6): For many students, Choir is a beloved class! Meeting once during the six-day cycle, students will sing songs with purpose. Whether it's performing "O Canada" for an assembly, a reflective piece for Remembrance Day, or a lively show tune for entertainment, students will learn to appreciate the significance and utility of music. In Choir, they will enhance their vocal projection and support, striving to match tone and pitch with their peers as they advance.

Drama: Students will be invited to tap into their creativity. Through this journey of self-discovery, they will build confidence in their collaborative abilities and self-expression. Primary students will enjoy participating in various drama games and will learn the art of storytelling, taking turns to act out the narratives! It promises to be a lot of fun! Intermediate students will delve into dramatic concepts such as pantomime, tableaux, and improvisation, engaging in games that will challenge and foster their creativity and observational skills.

School Concerts: Combine the Choir, music classes, and drama, and we have a performance! This year, the primary grades will host a winter concert, while the intermediate grades will present theirs in the spring. Both events will feature music, dance, laughter, and perhaps even a few tears! Parents and guardians will receive notifications regarding venue and showtimes.
