Both the Multi-age English and French Immersion programs employ a wide variety of classroom strategies which include cooperative learning, direct instruction, and activity based or hands-on experiences. Other strategies determined by the needs of individual students are also used at École Riverview School.

Combined classrooms consisting of two grade levels. | Single or combined classrooms consisting of two grade levels. |
Students normally stay with the same teacher for two years. | Students may or may not stay with the same teacher for two years. |
Students receive approximately 100 minutes of Basic French per six day cycle. | Students receive approximately one hour of English Language Arts instruction per day. |
All classroom subjects are taught in English. | All classroom subjects are taught in French (excluding Music and ELA, and partially excluding Phys.-Ed.). |
*Parents are strongly encouraged to participate in the classroom program. |
Participation in classroom programs may include:
- Volunteering in the classroom and on field trips.
- Acting as researchers and/or resource people to provide enrichment in arts, music, computer activities, cooking and health, etc., in co-operation with the teacher.
- Maintenance of the classroom and gathering and preparing materials.
- Assisting at school and classroom events.
All parents are encouraged to show a genuine interest and support for classroom programming, including reinforcement of program activities in the home.
