ROOTS OF EMPATHY IN ROOM 21
FEBRUARY 2024
JANUARY 2024
It's a new year and with it students in room 21 saw new changes in their Roots of Empathy, little teacher, Baby Nova! During January's session Nova and her mom, Huma, visited the classroom and as soon as the green blanket was rolled out, Baby Nova started crawling towards the students! Students were so excited to see her crawling and how much more she has learned and all her milestones! Also during this visit, students learned more about sleep and how it helps a baby's development, especially on the brain. Students are excited to see what Nova can do when she visits again!
The Roots of Empathy program has returned to Tyndall Park School and once again Ms. Basaraba's class is taking part in this program. The program is an evidence-based classroom program that helps increase sharing, caring and inclusion among the participants by observing an infant's development and emotions throughout the school year. This year's volunteer 'Mom' is none other than our very own Huma Arain and her new daughter, Nova! Mom and baby make monthly visits so that students can see how much change and development has occurred over the past month. So far, mom and Nova has had a couple of visits to the classroom already and the students are loving it! We extend a huge thank you to Ms. Huma and Nova for volunteering to participate in this worthy program.
