Music Education

April 17, 2026

Thank you to all the parents and students who visited the music room at Mulvey during Parent-Teacher meetings. Your interest and support in your child’s music education are both appreciated and helpful in creating lifelong music learners.

March was Disney March Madness in the music room at Mulvey! We began the month by discussing what makes our favourite songs our favourite songs and why. We then used that criteria to listen to and evaluate famous Disney songs (including Let it Go, Hakuna Matata, We Don’t Talk about Bruno, and more) in a tournament-style bracket to determine which Disney song Mulvey thinks is the best (Final results to be announced in the first class back in April)! Each classroom also spent the month learning to play a Disney song on our Orff instruments. Some selections include Lavender’s Blue, It’s a Small World, and the Mickey Mouse March. Our N/K music learners began reading rhythmic notation this month, all within the Disney theme!

Looking ahead to April, our Mulvey Music makers will start learning to play the RECORDER, a fond musical rite-of-passage from our childhood. We will also survey Rain songs from around the world.

Rhythmically yours,
