November has been a very busy and eventful month! Thank you to all who made it out for Parent Teacher, it was a great success! Each classroom had an opportunity to make their own Remembrance Day wreath which was displayed at the assembly. The students read stories on the importance of Remembrance Day and then wrote their own Peace is… poem or appreciation message to Veterans. We are now practicing the writing process of non-fiction reports and they will soon be creating their own.
The students loved our science unit on light and enjoyed completing experiments using prisms, flashlights, mirrors and lasers. They also did some creative art based on the book Flashlight integrating some aspects of our class read aloud, The Wild Robot, as well. The students have been studying the geography of Canada using atlases and are now researching either a province or territory on their own.
In math, the students will continue to practice their addition and subtraction mental math strategies. We have also begun learning about telling time on analog clocks.
The students have been practicing for their winter concert coming up later this month, hope to see you all there!
