Room 101 Music: Mr. Shymko

Welcome to Music 2025-2026!

My name is Mr. Shymko. I am excited to start a new musical journey with the students at William Whyte School. I have been a teacher for over ten years, and this will be my fourth-year teaching Music/Performing Arts. We will start our musical adventure with singing, rhythm, movement, and then begin to add instruments like xylophone, drums, piano, ukulele, and guitar. My goal is for every student to find their own musical comfort zone while challenging them to expand their musical horizons as individuals and as a group. We will be exploring music from around the world along with a selection of music from Indigenous traditions. As an experienced fiddler, I am pleased to be able to continue the fiddle group at William Whyte. I will be also offering a choir group and of course musical performances throughout the year including a winter concert. I look forward to connecting with the students and families at William Whyte School!
