Physical Education

Grade 9:
Through a combination of activities in the gym and classroom
students will:
·
Develop skills and the appreciation for the need
of lifelong activities and recreation.
·
Investigate and examine issues designed to apply
informed decision making, conflict resolution and social skills in making
personal choices.
·
Participate in extensive array of activities
with opportunities for every student to be successful.
Grade 10:
Through a combination of activities in the gym and classroom
students will:
·
Develop positive interactions through a variety
of physical activities.
·
Focus on developing physical well-being through
education of the body and how it works (heart rate related to exercise and
fitness, etc.)
·
Develop knowledge and skills in various Health
topics such as; family life, drug education , personal safety and healthy
eating.
Grade 11:
This course is designed to help youth take greater ownership
of their own physical fitness:
·
Encourage them to seek out activities that
interest them, and to engage in active lifestyles into their futures.
·
Students will be required to plan, commit,
participate in, and certify their involvement in a variety of physical
activities. They must participate in a minimum
of 55 hours of moderate to vigorous activity.
·
As well develop
knowledge and skills in various health
topics; nutrition and wellness.
Grade 12:
This course is designed to help youth take greater ownership
of their own physical fitness:
·
Encourage them to seek out activities that
interest them, and to engage in active lifestyles into their futures.
·
Students will be required to participate in a
minimum of 55 hours of moderate to vigorous activity. These activities must
contribute to their cardio-respiratory fitness, muscular strength, flexibility and
endurance. These will be part of their required personal activity plan.
