Cold Weather Protocol

In the event it is necessary to close the schools and the administration building on a given day because of severe weather conditions, in accordance with the Board Policy EBC - Emergency Plans, the following procedures will apply:

The decision to close the schools and the Administration Building will be made by the Chief Superintendent in consultation with the chair person of the Board.

The announcement will be broadcast over the following radio stations:

• CBC (990 AM & 89.3 FM)        

• CKY (580 AM)                        

• CJOB (680 AM)

• CFRW (1290 AM)

• CKMM (Hot 103 - 103 FM)

• CFQX (104.1 FM)

• CITI (92.1 FM)

• CFWM (Bob FM - 99.9 FM)

If it becomes necessary for the schools to be closed or to bus the students home early during a school day because of severe weather conditions, the school will be contacted by telephone by a representative from the Superintendent's Department.

There are days when school bus transportation may be cancelled but schools and the Administration Building will remain open. Please listen carefully to any radio announcements in this regard.
