Cardio Club (Running Club - Grades 4 to 6) Cardio Club is an opportunity for grades 4 to 6 students to be physically active in the morning before the school day begins. Cardio Club runs during the months of September and October (until October 10th) and restarts in May, running until the middle of June. In the Spring, Cardio Club members have the opportunity to train for the Winnipeg School Division Fit Run, in addition to a “Mini-Fit Run” hosted by Robert H. Smith. Cardio Club members also have the opportunity to participate in Manitoba Marathon events in June. The Cardio Club schedule can be found at https://goo.gl/Mqd42K.
Intramurals
Intramural programming is available to students from grades 1 to 6. Grades 1 to 3 intramurals will usually take the form of activities stations/jungle gym, however additional opportunities could be offered throughout the year. Grades 4 to 6 intramurals will be a mix of low-organized games, various sports and physical activities. Soccer Club (grade 5 and 6)
Soccer Club has been offered for grades 5 and 6 students during the month of September. The club consists of several practices, where students can build both their knowledge and skills in the area of soccer. The club culminates with an inter school tournament, hosted by Robert H. Smith at River Heights School/Community Club.
Volleyball Club (grade 6)
Volleyball Club will be offered to grades 6 students throughout the month of November. The club will consist of several practices, allowing students to build their knowledge and skills in the area of volleyball. The club culminates with an inter school tournament hosted by Robert H. Smith.
Track and Field (Grades 4 to 6)
Track and field is offered to grades 4 to 6 students. Students have the opportunity to build their knowledge and skills in the area of track and field. After several practices, students have the opportunity to experience a track meet through the Athletics Manitoba Elementary Relays, held at the University of Manitoba. Speed Skating
Speed skating club is offered during the winter. There are several practices leading up to the Winnipeg School Division Speed Skating Races, which have taken place for over 100 years! Please see the physical education calendar for speed skating dates (https://goo.gl/Mqd42K).
