WARM HOLIDAY GREETINGS FROM NORQUAY SCHOOL STAFF

Dear Norquay School Families and Community,

As we approach the end of 2024, we wanted to take a moment to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your continued support and dedication to our school. It has been a wonderful year of learning, growth, and collaboration, and we couldn’t have done it without the strong partnership between our students, staff, and families.

The holiday season is a time to reflect on the joys of the past year and to appreciate the special moments we’ve shared together. Whether you celebrate with family, friends, or in your own unique way, we hope this time brings you peace, happiness, and well-deserved rest.

Looking ahead to the new year, I am excited for the continued opportunities to learn and grow together as a community. Thank you for making Norquay School such a special place for our students to thrive.

Wishing you all a safe, joyful, and restful holiday season!

Mr. B, Mrs. Russell and the Norquay School Staff

MESSAGE FROM YOUR SCHOOL LEADERSRed%20Blue%20Gradient%20Pitch%20Deck%20Presentation.jpg

With all of the changes happening at Norquay School this school year, it's been a crazy busy start to the school year!  Thank you to our school families for your support and understanding as we navigate these changes.  The balanced school day and new nutrition program have helped curb absenteeism and get more of our kids at school.  You may have noticed our Norquay Stars bulletin board - each month we celebrate the "stars" of the month - the students who've excelled at Reading, Writing, Math, Phys Ed, Music, Patrols and attendance.  Stop by and check it out if you get a chance.  Our students are very proud of their accomplishments and are awesome at celebrating the success of their peers!

Our teachers have been hard at work making learning interesting and fun, while maintaining a safe, supportive and nurturing environment.  We've spent a lot of time this fall improving our literacy rates across all grade levels. Students have been bringing home books, once a month, that have been graciously donated by our partner "Share the Magic".  Our school numeracy committee has been working on school wide activities to target specific areas of the math curriculum where our students struggle.  Overall we are moving in the right direction and having a great time doing it!

December was a busy month with lots fun activities at Norquay!  Our Holiday Make and Take was a complete success with an amazing first mini-concert put on by Mrs. Hrabi. It was awesome to see our students in action, performing the songs they've been working on in choir.  We had amazing participation in our school spirit week that culminated with our annual Lafarge Breakfast with Santa!  We're so thankful for the support of our community partner, Lafarge, for their gracious donation and unwavering support to Norquay School.  A big thank you and shout out to our school staff and Norquay Leaders for their help and coordination of all of our events - we couldn't do it without you!

At Norquay School we understand that supportive community helps to build strong families.  In turn this creates successful students who are involved, resilient and aware. Various levels of government have recently been discussing the possibility of a safe injection site at 200 Disraeli.  We recognize that this brings much uncertainty and questions for families.  In order to support families and ensure the voice of the Norquay School Community is heard, in January, our school will be inviting the Public Health and MLA's office to a Community Consultation meeting at the school.  This meeting will be held in the evening and is to ensure our school families are able to ask the questions necessary, share their thoughts and concerns, and ensure the safety and security of children is at the forefront of our thinking.  More information will follow in early January.
