The Arts Program
September 9, 2024
At Faraday School, we believe the Arts are a critical part of becoming and growing as a learner and person; they help to develop a learner's identity and connect with community and society. The Arts empower learners to raise their voices, take risks, support each other, and feel included - there is a place for everyone in the Arts. The Arts allow learners to demonstrate understanding of learning concepts in multiple ways, and promote collaboration, creativity, and flexible and critical thinking. At Faraday, we are proud to provide dynamic Arts programming for our learners, including learning in Dance, Drama, Music, and Visual Arts.
Our Performing Arts program hosts learning opportunities in Dance, Drama, Music. Performing Arts learning experiences use an Integrated Arts and Inquiry learning model, where learners can engage with concepts that are explored in their classrooms. This Integrated Arts learning process uses the Arts to support the development of a specific skill or acts as a companion to the learning to provide a contextual understanding of a topic. The Performing Arts program offers opportunities for students to showcase their work through ongoing performances at monthly assemblies and both Winter (primary learners) and Spring (intermediate) concerts.
Faraday also has a growing choral program, hosting one choir for primary learners and one choir for intermediate learners. Both choirs meet once per 6-day cycle.
Visual Arts programming at Faraday involves a wide range of visual art forms including drawing, painting, collage, sculpting, design, costuming, and more. Visual Arts programing is provided by each classroom teacher and is also often integrated into other subject areas.
We are artists, we are creators, we are learners at Faraday School!
