CATT
February 5, 2021
The Canadian Academy of Travel & Tourism (CATT) program introduces and promotes careers in tourism to high school students across Canada. The CATT program is integrated into the current high school curriculum, and allows students to specialize in tourism through a successful work and study approach.
The CATT program was first launched in 1995 by the American Express Foundation and housed under the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC). In 2007, CATT became a permanent CTHRC program. With the support and guidance of educators and industry partners, the program has grown to provide high school students across the country with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to succeed in the working world.
At Elmwood the students participate in class at lunch and then commit to fulfilling a volunteer requirement of 220 hours from grade ten to twelve.
There are also evening outings and amazing opportunities for our students to enjoy tourism events in Winnipeg; from a walking tour of the exchange district, to a night at the Opera.
They can receive four credits and an abundance of experience!
We are so fortunate to offer this program as Elmwood is 1 in 3 schools in Manitoba to do so.
